I demand a canine companion!

If you didn't know, I LOVE border collies.
Yeah, as in .. the breed of dog. They're just the cutest!

And for the past fifteen years of my existence I have been lobbying against my parents that getting a dog is a perfectly awesome idea. But because I was so young and such a trouble maker for most of my life (and still am) they always said 'No, you can't have a dog because who would look after it?' and I would answer with 'YES. I WOULD LOOK AFTER THE DOG BECAUSE IT WILL BE MY DOG' and then they'll go parental and say 'You can't even look after yourself, let alone look after a dog.'

And to my parents, it was case closed.

But during 2011, I vowed that if I scored a GPA higher than 6.0 in a semester then my parents would HAVE to at least give me permission to own a dog. It sounds really sad doesn't it? Just giving 'permission'... so let me rephrase that in parental terms. It technically means 'Yes, we give you permission to own a dog, but you won't be able to pay for all it's fees and good luck winning the lottery.'

But sure enough, SUCCESS. With a GPA of 6.5 and accredited an award on the Dean's List and voila! Mum was like 'Okay, we give you permission to get a dog now.'

But parents are sneaky you know. I had no time to look after a dog, I had enrollments, books to buy, preparations for our Christmas trip to Singapore and Vietnam. I just had no time to look after a dog, and even if we did get a dog during the Winter break, it would only be a months break and who would look after my darling canine while I was gone for five weeks in Vietnam?!

And so it was pushed back even further. So sad.

But now I've returned from Vietnam, and I feel like a lawyer in the High Court stating my case and I will not be taking no for an answer!

I've looked up so much information on diets, training, exercise, mental and physical stimulation, natural instincts, grooming, how to remedy bad behaviour, negative and positive reinforcement, pet insurance, the best dog parks to go to etc

So okay, if you're a breeder or a dog owner - then you probably know all these things right?
Well I'm a noob wannabe dog owner and I'm researching this information feverishly and I'm doing it everyday for hours on end. So give me credit for trying so hard.

I will not lose this case to my parents! GRR I will have my puppy!

And that concludes my rant about how dog obsessed I am.
