One of my pet peeves has to be .. being in a relationship. And being titled 'girlfriend', or referred to as an object of affection in the sense that I am not me, and I belong to my significant other as a possession.
I would hate it if I were with someone and they would say things relative to 'Your boyfriend' or 'his girlfriend'.
If my significant other were 'mine' and if I felt that he belonged to me and I to him, then I would acknowledge that in my/his/our own way. Not by referring them to a person I have in my possession.
I have a name, I would like you to use it.
