Things I Love Thursday

Oh noes, my first things I love Thursday is way overdue!

In all honesty, I totally forgot. And in my defence, I was busy procrastinating uni work.

I've actually had a really relaxed week considering I have so many assessments due, but this week has truly been fabulous! The thing that made me most happy this week actually occurred on a Friday, which technically doesn't make it count but oh well!

It wasn't expected on Friday night when I was planning to stay in the library all night and start my counselling critique but Jason showed up with sushi and a white chocolate mocha (♥) and then afterwards headed out for Southbank for a full course dinner and shopping at the Southbank markets!

It was a whirlwind of adventure! Jason bought me a pretty pretty vintage blue dress from Wind & Water at the markets and it was as oh so lovely as the lady selling them! She was really nice and she and Jason were talking like good old friends, she was so upbeat and she really was great :)

I quote her: 'You went to the bin and you've come back with popcorn! It was expected of you anyway!'

Afterwards, we had dinner at Toscani's. We scoured the whole entire Southbank looking for a place to eat and settled on the small restaurant. The bread we had was so warm and soft and Jason would scoop a tonne of garlic butter for every mouthful of bread he ate. The pasta was very creamy and the Wagyu was very ...red wine saucy haha :)
But the dessert was the best part... four scoops of vanilla ice cream in a waffle cup, topped with chocolate along with creamed raspberries, strawberries and whipped cream. Gosh it was so yummy.. And it was the first time I've had raspberries too!

I don't particularly like it, but I don't particularly like anything that's too sour :)
I actually really wanted the cheesecake, but I enjoyed myself so much that it didn't bother me what we had as long as I was with Jasonnnnnnn harr harr :3

Also earlier that Friday! I was walking through the gardens to uni during the storm and the pouring rain ..and also running a bit late might I add. And ran into this girl at the duck ponds. We were total strangers just walking through the park, her ahead of me. When she stopped to look at the ponds, I walked by and she turned around suddenly, smiled and pointed into the water.

You might not find this very entertaining, but I do! In the water there was this big lizard.. just sitting in the water with his head poking out! We both laughed at the lizard for some time and it was really fun. Something I've never done before, you know? Laughing with a complete stranger. And genuine laughing too, not the polite chuckle kind :)

Anyway, this post is becoming a lot longer than I thought. So here are some other things that have made me happy this week!

Seeing old friends in the library ♥ Debating over which friend is more 'normal' than the other ♥ Dinner with my parents ♥ Early morning breakfast of bacon and eggs at the park ♥ Comforting hugs and smelly feet ♥ Pinkie Pie's RC car ♥ Cat videos on youtube

I also stuck this message on my ceiling

Life loves to be taken by the lapel and told 'I'm with you kid. Let's go.'

Ryan

A few years ago during high school, I once knew a guy, his name was Ryan. And he was a really quiet guy, very reserved, didn't make many jokes, didn't really laugh much. He was monotonous.

Some of my friends would hang out with him and his friends during lunch every now and then and it was really nice. Sitting at lunch, talk about nothing, laugh about nothing.
I like to think I was a very happy person during high school.

Most of us in that group would be involved in music in some way. My friend plays the clarinet, another on the cello and I was in choir. His friends played music and some were part of choir too. It was fun having our own special thing going on.

But Ryan would always sit quietly, eat his lunch and keep to himself.
Me and a friend noticed this and we would try to open him up a little and talk to him during home room and visit his locker after school.

But he was a nice guy, he probably didn't like large groups of people and liked to keep to himself.

At some point I decided to invite him out to see a movie with some of my friends. We saw High School Musical 2, it was ..interesting.

But after that I never really spoke to him much. Until one day, he sent me a message via msn chat. It was a casual conversation, but I was especially excited and happy that day. I don't remember my reasons why, but I was happy and he didn't really enjoy my company at the time.

He asked a lot of questions. Questioning my happiness, how I didn't deserve to be happy all the time, how I shouldn't push my attitude onto other people.

I don't remember everything that happened, but I remember the conversation we had was perfectly normal until he snapped.
He told me off for being happy. I didn't mean to push my attitude onto him, but as far as I knew being happy wasn't illegal.

I do deserve to be happy, and he should too. It seems that Ryan won't let himself be happy. I don't know what he's been through or what his life is like, but I think he can be happy if he chooses to be.

I haven't kept contact with Ryan for about four years now. I wonder what he's doing now and if he remembers me. I wonder if he still dislikes me for being able to be happy. If he does, it'll be his problem because being happy is who I want to be :)

Optimism

Source: Stuff no one told me

I've recently (recently as in, several months ago) purchased Chapter five of Gala Darling's book 'Love and Sequins'. It's all about finding happiness and making it stay.

I've listened to the podcast and I want to listen to it over and over again. I'm going to be honest and say I know that throughout this whole entire year I haven't been as optimistic and happy as I should be and I question if I deserve happiness at all.

Looking back, I've done a lot of bad things in my past.

But hearing Gala's words on happiness, I've decided to follow her words of advice to literally 'finding happiness and making it stay'.

I'm setting myself a goal, that by the end of this year I will become secure and a lot less of an anxious person that I am now. I will be positive and optimistic. I will be open and receptive to all good.

I am going to start with affirmations. Consistently telling myself that I will be happy and good things will happen. I'm going to stick happy little notes around my room, on the ceiling to see as soon as I wake up! On the bathroom mirror maybe, stick a note in my wallet, put another one in my laptop bag. I don't know, but I'll do it.

I'm going to start becoming grateful for what I have every week with 'Things I love Thursday'. On Thursdays I will take a short break out of my daily life to write a short post about all the things that have made me happy this week and be grateful for those moments.

I will make good use of my time, get things done. Finish my work as soon as I can and not let it linger. I must not linger around.

I will live in the moment and make every day special and magical.

I will be working on these aspects of my life to improve my attitude. These changes will be effective immediately and I will become a better person.

There will be times where I won't be feeling so great, but trust me, I'm working on it. Things will change. Just watch me.

How do you know if someone is right or wrong for you?

It's a pretty simple question, but a lot of things in my head cloud my mind. I'm not sure what to do, hopefully things will work out well. Prepare for the pain, stress and sleepless nights.
