community fundraiser :)

I know it’s a little bit late but I just came home after a last minute Vietnamese community charity thing to fundraise for the viet community!

At around 3 somethings, Hien My called and asked if I was free tonight to dress in an ao dai to do a short fashion show for the fundraiser and after about 10 minutes of calling Ai-Van and Hai-Yen and Hien My, everything was set and ready to go!

Then Hai-Yen came over early and dropped off the ao dai for me to borrow (coz I’m lame and I don’t have one coz apparently I’m a tomboy!) and then we discussed plans for Ai-Van’s 18th birthday dinner! We ended up (after lots of planning, knowing that Ai-Van is gluten intolerant and slightly lactose intolerant also) with Little Singapore – cheap and affordable and suitable for lots of guests & asian food, Buffet Garden – variety of food, decent price, suitable for HEAPS of guests and last but not least – Sono’s – expensive, but suitable for an 18th as sono’s is very lavish and such a classic.

But we’ve let ai-Van know the options and we’re just waiting for her to choose before we tell everyone about it!

Now for gifts… theres a giant gary snail at Giwawa in the city… or a 3000 piece puzzle… I’m leaning towards the giant Gary… hmm..

Well ANYWAY!

Then Ai-Van arrived and we left to darra palace for the fundraising event and Hai-Yen went home – tailgating us teehee. We got there sat around, talked, drank coke, freaked out over doing the short fashion show with our bamboo hats, practiced outside in the cold. Then suddenly called on to do our super ao dai fashion show D:

And it turned out rather well :) it wasn’t serious or anything but it came together in half an hour haha hardly any practice too! And then we sat and ate asian foods and watched the performances (Hien My performed a lot! I took a few photos too). Then we were introduced to TD Rin (TD = abbreviated viet name, I can’t remember his name) and then after a while he went on stage to do the karaoke and it was like PHWOAH, THIS GUY CAN SING.

And it totally blew your mind.

I tried to convince Ai-Van to get up and dance! And I don’t normally dance, but this time I was happy enough to harr harr but Ai-Van wouldn’t go! But in the end she did in the last 3 songs we stayed for haha

But then after that we left and Ai-Van dropped me home. But dude, that Rin guy can sing!
Ahh well I’m tired now and I might finish studying and then head off to bed when I’m about to pass out
